Movie Reviews: I Am Legend / I’m Not There

January 31st, 2008 · No Comments

I saw these two the other night in Katoomba, and I can’t imagine two more disparate movies. It was definitely an interesting experience, switching my brain from popcorn flick to semi-indie arty mindbender …. Here’s my thoughts…..
(P.S. I know these movies actually came out a month ago, but we live a very sheltered life up [...]

The Wonder Years

January 31st, 2008 · No Comments

Time to take you back to those Halcyon days of the early 90s, when you would rush home from school to flip on Channel 10 and lose yourself in the cheesy 60s Americana of The Wonder Years. Ahh, just listening to Joe Cocker’s growl brings back the memories… Becky Slater, the pimple Kevin tried to [...]

You Are My Brother!

January 29th, 2008 · No Comments

I know this is like shooting fish in a barrel, but if you are like me and take guilty pleasure from laughing at the misguided mongos who come out of the woodwork to audition for Idol, you will love this guy they discovered on the most recent season of American Idol - ladies and gentleman, [...]

Hey,
Now that Real Topeka People is up and running, I will mainly be posting my personal stuff over here …. though there will probably be a bit of overlap here and there.

We are having a very cruisy afternoon listening to Triple J’s Hottest 100 and sinking a few beers with Wally and Dove. Just enjoyed a great Aussie sausage sanger for lunch.

18-0!

January 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Oh yeaaaah! The Patriots need just 1 more win for the ‘perfect’ season!
On Monday night I stayed up late to watch the AFC and NFC conference championships on ESPN / Fox. Patriots-Chargers was a bit of a nailbiter, with the Pats playing well below their best. Brady had an uncharacteristic 3 INTs, including his first [...]

Heath Ledger, R.I.P.

January 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

I woke this morning to a msg from my buddy Nuf that said ‘Heath Ledger is dead’, and for a second I thought I must be dreaming. Sadly, I wasn’t.
It appears as though he may have overdosed on sleeping pills, intentionally or unintentionally, and was pronounced dead at 3:35 ET US. There are rumours circulating [...]

Well Done India

January 19th, 2008 · No Comments

So India just closed out the third test, Australia pulling up 72 runs short after a spirited chase by our tail-enders. Mitchell Johnson had 50 off 80 balls, essentially batting at the same clip that Ponting did but ending up with a better total. Super effort.
Kudos to the Indians for their great all-round match. VVS [...]
