I’m back! I’ve been a bit lazy on the blogging side of things this week, with work and a new writing project preoccupying my mind. But I thought I should put a bow on my Idol blogging for the year.
A belated congratulations to Wes Carr on his Australian Idol victory. I was planning to write [...]

By Seattle, Washington’s Rocky Votolato, the lovely and delicate Shins-esque White Daisy Passing.
A very talented relatively unknown guy to Australian music lovers. Glad I stumbled upon him.

‘To Hell And Back’ with Adam Carolla
November 23rd, 2008 · No Comments
One of the most underrated comedic personas in Hollywood, Adam Carolla, with his “plug” for his newly finished film ‘To Hell And Back’.
Carolla does a great segment on his radio show called ‘Made Up Movies’ that is worth a listen if you enjoy funny film-related podcasts.
Trailerwatch: Quarantine

I actually love the concept of this movie, from a low-budget filmmakers perspective. I also totally love Jennifer Carpenter at the moment after recently finishing Dexter Season 1. ‘Quarantine’ got a flogging by the Australian critics in the papers over the weekend; maybe a “wait for DVD” film.

Australian Idol 2008: Final 3 Verdict
November 18th, 2008 · 1 Comment
Last night’s Australian Idol ep began with the thankfully-not-prolonged verdict. G reminds us that to not make the Final 2 is going to be “devastating” for whomever misses out. He also shares with us that “no matter what happens from now on, you are already winners.” Except for the loser who gets booted tonight, of [...]

Song of the Day: It Will Follow The Rain

The Tallest Man On Earth is the musical moniker of Swedish singer-songwriter Kristian Mattson. This song has the earthy, unadorned feel of an old Bob Dylan song. Very nice performance by Mattson.

Trailerwatch: Star Trek

The first look at JJ Abrams ‘Star Trek’ reboot:
I am by no definition a ‘Trekkie’, but I’m excited about this one. Visually very impressive. Love the glimpses of the Enterprise in battle. And is that Eric Bana in the final scene?
JJ Abrams may have some haters, but I am definitely in the ‘I Love [...]

Tell me this doesn’t look like a deleted scene from ‘War Of The Worlds’… Crazy.
Apparently the smell of smoke is pervasive in L.A. at the moment. Hope they get it under control soon. According to CNN almost 1000 homes have already been lost.

Mayne Street

If you’re a fan of the goofy ESPN commercials and Sportscenter, you’ll love Kenny Mayne’s new “Curb-esque” online webisode series, Mayne Street.
Scott Van Pelt is the perfect foil for Kenny. It’s amazing the comic timing that most of these SC guys have. I laughed out loud at a few points during ‘Fixes’. Episode 2 is [...]
