Paul Dempsey’s ‘Everything Is True’ album is a sure contender for the top end of my Top 10 Albums of 2009. Here IS one of the reasons why:

Amazing lyrics, beautiful melody. Pretty cool ‘speed dating-esque’ concept for the clip too.

You can’t help but empathise with the position of artist as circus exhibit after hearing this verse:
Cause I know no quicker way, dear
To the shiny gates of hell
Than a room full of handsome devils
Comparing everything to everything else

Just one example of Dempsey’s incisive and moody lyrical genius. He’s surely one of Australian songwriting’s best wordsmiths.
